Alien, a creature from a foreign land, filled with fear anduncertainty but also brimming with curiosity and a desireto explore.
This project was created at the critical juncture of leavingmainland China after three years to begin my PhDstudies in the UK. During this time, a strange sense ofpowerlessness and unfamiliarity heightened my doubts—how does a lonely traveler in academic art dissolve thedisplacement both geographically and psychologically?
Thus, inspired by the various meanings of “Alien,” I beganto imagine and interpret what it means to be a foreignerfrom my subjective and biased perspective.
