"And yet none of them died, each one only transformed, was always re-born, received evermore a new face, without any time having passed between the one and the other face— and all of these figures and faces rested, flowed, generated themselves, floated along and merged with each other."

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                —— Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

House of Reincarnation is an autobiographical journey into the land of nightmares. In this journey, I dedicate time to uncovering the origins of my monstrous world in order to understand how they stem from my personal experiences and dwelling culture, and how they shape me and who I am. The relationship between my psyche and the ruins forms nightmarish spaces, becoming the carriers of my anxiety and fear, and turning into the external manifestation of mediated trauma.

My perspective of the abandoned dwellings forms a reflection that blends reality with dreams, creating an external concept called "Outland"—an isolated nightmarish space that contains all the horror, uncertainty, and anxiety. Alongside this is a self-projection character, X, who lives inside the Outland. Like the anonymous name "X," this figure has no face, no gender, and no fixed features; it is essentially a bridge between my culture and fears, an island of perpetual nightmares, trapped in the cycle of reincarnation. These spaces, filled with uncertainty and variability, are depicted in miniatures and illustrations.

Machine Learning

A machine learning technique allows my computer to process footage from abandoned places and forests, interpreting my hand-made sculptures. When generating visual responses, it embodies an uncanny emotion and forms a closed psychological loop—a reincarnation that can never be escaped.

Miniatures

8 miniature scenes that represent the Outland space, X appears in different forms in each scene.
